Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our training packages and services

Each training session is one hour. Your first session will be a little longer (one hour and thirty minutes) where we’ll go over your dog training packet, see your setup and answer any upfront questions.

Here at Double D Dog Training, we book 1-2 weeks in advance. Sometimes cancellations and reschedules are necessary, and we understand! If you need to cancel or reschedule your session, please give a 24-hour notice. If a 24-hour notice is not given, you will lose that session and we will move to the next session on the following appointment. If you are a ‘no show’ you will be charged a $125 no show fee.

No refunds are available after the first session.

Positive reinforcement training builds your dog’s confidence, and your bond. Since we use positive reinforcement in all of our training sessions, your dog will learn and enjoy the training.

Absolutely not! It’s never too late to start training your dog; both puppies and older dogs are always eager to please.

Double D Dog Training only offers in-home training sessions except for the advanced training which is done out in public.

Double D Dog Training accepts Cash, Check, and Zelle payments for all training packages and services.

Before we start each session, you will be given a handout of the behaviors. This will show what we completed last session, and what you can expect in the next session. I’ll also provide step-by-step instructions for you and your family to practice the behaviors in between sessions. Additionally, you will have phone, email and text support from me for 30 days.

I always recommend you have a standard 6 ft. leash, collar, front-clip harness, and 'high' value yummy treats for training. If you have any questions on these items, please feel free to give me a call!

I recommend you get several items before brining home your new puppy:

  • Soft plush toys
  • Nylabone Chew Bones
  • Pee Pads
  • A collar
  • A thin, lightweight 5 or 6ft standard leash
  • A wire crate that’s slightly bigger than the size of your puppy
  • A Kong
  • Food and water bowls
  • Dog bed
  • Dog gate
I recommend you practice each day for 10-15 minutes once per day or twice per day if you have the time. Review the behaviors with your pup that we went over in the training session. Consistency is the key to your success. It will help solidify the training with the dog since you are doing it daily. You will notice massive improvement in your dog’s behavior.

Great question and one I get often. The short answer is No! Your dog is not too old to train.
I’ve trained dogs as young as 7 weeks and as old as 10 years.
They can still learn and love to learn and are willing to learn new behaviors and tricks.
Dogs are members of our family and want to be with us no matter what we are doing even if it is training.
The homework for the dog reinforces the newly learned behaviors. Just like with people, the more you consistently practice with you dog they will understand when you ask them for a command and will respond accordingly.
I always recommend everyone in the family to participate in the training and practice  with the dog.

I love to have all of the family members and especially the children involved for them to help out and learn what to do.

It helps build their self-confidence and relationship with their dog.

Your dog will learn to listen to everyone in the family no matter who is asking them for a ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘wait’, ‘stay’, etc.
